Questions about official Winnebago County criminal records belong with the government office that holds the file. The contacts below route court, arrest, jail, report, and statewide history requests to the proper custodian. This privately operated resource cannot retrieve, change, or certify a government record.

This Is Not a Government Office. This private reference resource cannot obtain official records, perform official checks, correct agency data, or accept an Iowa expungement filing. Contact the responsible public office directly.

Winnebago County requests should be directed according to the record type:

  • Court case files: Winnebago County Clerk of District Court, 126 S. Clark St., Suite 1, Forest City, IA 50436; 641-251-6009; county office hours are generally Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • State criminal histories: Iowa DPS Division of Criminal Investigation, Bureau of Identification; 515-725-6066.
  • Arrest and sheriff reports: Sheriff Civil Office, 935 Highway 69 N., Forest City, IA 50436; 641-585-7590; Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • Current jail custody and booking: Winnebago County Jail at the Law Enforcement Center; 641-585-3632. Calls may go unanswered during meals, court, or lockdown.
  • City police reports: contact Forest City Police or Lake Mills Police when that department made the record.
  • Expungement filings: file in the criminal case through the Winnebago County Clerk of District Court.

The county does not name a separate records division or publish a dedicated request form. Call the Sheriff Civil Office before visiting, describe the record and date range, and ask whether inspection or an electronic copy is available.
